Introduction

Wow! What a deal! I picked this up for under 50 bucks without giving much thought to all the information out there differentiating between compressors. I just wanted to inflate my little girl’s swimming pool (away from my home’s electrical outlets). Now, after having filled all sorts of things with it, I’m finding out that the EPAuto 12 V DC-powered portable air compressor is not just a bargain, but one of the best in its class! It is fast, reliable, and super convenient. Let me tell you a bit more about why I give this compressor an A+.

Best portable air pump for car tires

Product Features

Since I bought the EPAuto 12V about a month ago, I’ve come to learn already that this unit is made for your convenience. It runs on DC power from the plug-in (cigarette lighter) in your car or truck. I use it mainly while camping, hunting and fishing. My vehicles (truck and quad) have tires and I need to be prepared for everything when I am out in the boonies. The EPAuto 12V portable compressor has my tires covered.

The convenience also comes from the machine’s auto shut-off. When you first attach the nozzle to your tire, the handy display tells you the current PSI. On the same display, you can then set the compressor to shut off once the pressure gets to where you want it. Nice!

The manufacturers seem to have thought of everything. I like how the cords wrap and snap neatly to the base of the unit. The EPAuto 12V also comes with everything you need to do all the jobs that these compressors were built to do. It has three different nozzles that I use to fill balls, kiddy pools, mattresses and, of course, tires. I even found a spare fuse in the box when I opened it up.

Best Portable Air Pump For Car Tires For The Money?

The EPAuto 12V comes at a great price compared to what its competitors cost. And, there is no disadvantage to this unit compared to a Powryte compressor or even a JACO. At a bargain price like 40 bucks, I thought, “there needs to be a downside”. But I’m not finding anything major that I dislike, or that is a major inconvenience for me. That being said, there are a few minor annoyances that might be deal breakers for you. I think it ticks all the boxes to be considered as the cheap and best portable air pump for car tires.

First off, it’s kind of noisier than you might like. It is quiet, like all compressors this size are quiet, but if you’re particular about this sort of thing, you’ll find the EPAuto 12V louder than a few of its competitors. I am not deaf or anything, but it doesn’t bother me like it does my friend. Second, I want it to have a longer cord. I always want a longer cord, and, for some reason, no one makes these things with great lengths of cord. This can become a big problem if you have a bigger vehicle (like a big truck). Last, and this is less of an annoyance and more of a potential problem; I’ve read consumer feedback that says that sometimes these things just die. I think every company can have defective merchandise, and it’s just an odds game if you buy any complex electrical devices; but, there it is. I think the pros outweigh the cons big time here, and I recommend this item for purchase to anyone.

Pros

  • Excellent price point
  • Great value
  • Convenient auto shut-off
  • Convenient design
  • Saves you money not having to go to the service station to drop coin on free air!

Cons

  • A bit noisier than other compressors
  • Cord could be longer

Conclusion

I went out to buy a small air compressor that would fill things with air when I am away from home (and from electrical outlets), and not break my wallet. I found one and then some! The EPAuto 12V portable air compressor is not just a great bargain, but a valuable asset in my outdoorsman’s and family guy’s toolkit. I can’t recommend enough that, if you are in the market for one of these, you get this one.
